Raiya Darvasch

The Steelheart of the Bloodsands

Personality:
Raiya is a resilient and fiercely independent woman forged through suffering and survival. She speaks little unless necessary, her words weighed and deliberate each sentence spoken with the gravity of someone who’s lived through too much to waste breath. Despite her stoic exterior, she carries a protective and fiercely loyal heart, especially toward those who have known suffering or who remind her of the frightened girl she once was.
Years in captivity and the Bloodsands taught her to read people quickly she has a keen sense of body language and can sniff out deception like a beast sniffing blood in the sand. Trust does not come easily, but once earned, she would walk through fire for a friend. She holds a quiet, deep-seated anger toward systems that allow slavery and exploitation, but channels it constructively through training, action, and protecting others. Her humor is dry and biting when it appears, often catching others off-guard. Beneath the hardened surface is a woman yearning to rediscover joy, and to learn how to live, not just survive.Hobbies:
Desert Stargazing: Raiya is drawn to the stillness of the desert at night. She often climbs rooftops or wanders outside Ul’dah to lie under the stars, where she feels closest to her past, her father, and herself.
Cooking Simple Meals: During her years of hardship, food meant survival. Now free, Raiya is learning to enjoy the act of cooking. She favors hearty, comforting dishes Bozjan stews, roasted meats, and Ul’dahn flatbreads. She's clumsy at it, but determined.Combat Training: Not just a necessity, but a meditative practice. Raiya drills relentlessly, often mentoring younger Moonlit Knights who remind her of herself. Her style is disciplined and efficient, blending gladiatorial grit with Bozjan technique.Collecting Small Tokens: Raiya collects small items she finds coins, carved stones, broken jewelry. They serve as reminders of moments survived, or people met along the way. She keeps them in a small pouch tucked inside her coat.Interests:
Bozjan History & Resistance Lore: Now that she’s free, Raiya has taken an interest in learning more about Bozja’s true history and the Resistance her father fought for. She pores over old records, scrolls, and any story she can find trying to piece together her heritage.
Tales of Knights and Freedom Fighters: She’s quietly drawn to tales of legendary warriors who fought for justice. Though she doesn’t speak of it often, she wants to be remembered not just as a fighter, but as a protector, like those in the stories she once thought were fiction.Helping the Downtrodden: Raiya often slips away to the back alleys of Ul’dah or other towns to leave food, gil, or supplies for the poor. She never seeks recognition. She knows what it’s like to starve, and she’ll see no one else suffer as she did if she can help it.

Raiya Darvasch

The Steelheart of the Bloodsands

Born under the red skies of war-torn Bozja, Raiya Darvasch was the daughter of proud Resistance fighters. Her father, a seasoned Gunbreaker, was her hero teaching her discipline, courage, and the art of wielding the gunblade. But childhood in Bozja was fleeting. At fifteen, while journeying between outposts with a small group, Raiya was ambushed by pirates. Her captors saw little more than coin in her amber eyes and iron spirit, selling her into slavery across the sea like chattel. For years, Raiya endured the cruelty of chains aboard drifting ships and foreign ports, her will never breaking, only sharpening. One night, in a storm’s chaos and the drunkenness of her keepers, she escaped. Desperate and half-starved, she stowed away aboard a cargo vessel that eventually docked in Thalanan. From there, she wandered alone to Ul’dah, the jewel of the desert and a city as cruel as it was gilded.Raiya learned quickly that the rich looked away, and the poor looked out for themselves. Caught stealing bread to survive, she was thrown into the Bloodsands the gladiator pits where coin and blood fed Ul’dah’s insatiable appetite for spectacle. But Raiya was no ordinary scrap of meat for the crowd’s amusement.Though only a child when she last held a gunblade, her father's teachings were burned into her muscle and memory. She fought not with rage, but with resolve each battle a silent prayer to a father she believed still watched her from beyond, never knowing he'd long been claimed by war.For twelve brutal years, Raiya bled and survived in the Bloodsands. Opponents mocked her, underestimated her, and soon feared her. Her style was precise, her spirit unshakable. She became known as the Steelheart not for her weapon, but for her refusal to break, bend, or beg. Behind every swing of her blade was a survivor’s fury and a Bozjan's pride. When her chains were finally broken more from reputation than mercy Raiya walked free for the first time in fifteen years. It was then that she found Zelimir, her uncle, thought lost to war like so many others. Older, wearier, but alive and still carrying the flame of their people in his chest. The reunion was quiet but fierce, grief and joy entwined in silent tears and hard embraces.Zelimir was overjoyed when Raiya joined the Starlit Knights, an adventurer’s guild. There, under his stern guidance and tempered affection, Raiya began to hone the true legacy of the Gunbreaker not just as a weapon of war, but as a protector. No longer a slave, no longer a fighter for coin Raiya now fights for her people, for the forgotten, and for the child she once was.
